Automatic LinkedIn sequence steps allow you to automate your LinkedIn channel outreach.

The available automatic LinkedIn sequence steps include:

  • Message - this step allows you to send message to an existing LinkedIn connection;

  • Connect - this step allows you to automatically connect to someone on LinkedIn;

  • InMail - private messages that you can send to anyone on LinkedIn without having to establish a prior connection;

  • View Profile - an automatic view of the contacts' profile;

  • Sales Navigator Connect

  • Like Recent Posts - task to leave likes on the posts published by the contacts.

How to add an automatic LinkedIn step to a sequence

To add an automatic LinkedIn connect or message step to a sequence, please follow the steps below:

  1. Create a new or open an existing Reply sequence.

  2. Navigate to the Steps tab and choose the LinkedIn step.

3. From the drop-downs of the step editor that appear, select Automatic and then a particular type of step.

  • If you selected Message, enter your message into the Message text editor that appears. The message cannot exceed 8000 symbols.

  • If you selected Connect, enter a personal message into the Connection request personal message text editor that appears (optional). The message cannot exceed 300 symbols.

For both a message and a personal note that comes with the connection request, you can select and input all the variables and templates you have in your Reply account.

4. Click Save to save the step.

Please note. To use automatic LinkedIn sequence steps, you must first connect LinkedIn accounts using an Auto cookie or a manual connection method.

If you have several LinkedIn accounts added to your Reply account, then when you create a new sequence, the first LinkedIn account in the list is automatically added to the sequence. To link another account, navigate to Settings > Accounts > LinkedIn accounts.

Important:

To use LinkedIn's automatic steps, please make sure that your LinkedIn localization is set to English.

As of now, Reply's automation for LinkedIn accounts is fully supported only for those that use English. If you use other languages, some features of LinkedIn automation may not be available or may not work as expected.

To avoid any potential issues, we recommend setting your LinkedIn localization to English. For this, log in to your LinkedIn account, go to Settings & Privacy, select Site Preferences, and choose English under Site Language.

How it works

When you run a sequence with automatic LinkedIn steps, messages, and connection requests will be sent automatically if you use public LinkedIn or Sales Navigator. If you use Sales Navigator, you will have higher limits for connections and messages than with public LinkedIn.

Important. If the sequence with automatic LinkedIn steps includes any contacts without LinkedIn URLs, Reply will assign them the 'Missing Data' status.

You are free to choose any combination of automatic and manual LinkedIn steps that best suits your needs. For example, you can send manual LinkedIn connection requests and automatic LinkedIn messages, or vice versa. If you would like to send LinkedIn messages to people with whom you are not connected on LinkedIn, you will need to add both automatic LinkedIn steps to your sequence: first Connect, and then Message.

When a contact responds to your LinkedIn messages sent manually or by an automatic LinkedIn message step in a sequence, Reply detects the reply and sets the Replied in LinkedIn status to the contact. You can see the reply in the contact's Activity log.

Automatic LinkedIn connect

The automatic LinkedIn connect step will be processed only if you are not connected to the prospect yet.

When you add an automatic LinkedIn connect step to a sequence and run it, Reply checks if a LinkedIn account is connected to this sequence and if the prospect is already a connection. If the prospect that goes through this step is not a connection of yours, there will be an attempt to send a connection request. If you are already connected to the prospect, this step will be skipped and the prospect moved to the next step in the sequence.

Automatic LinkedIn message

The automatic LinkedIn message is sent to the prospect only if you are already connected to them on LinkedIn no matter what triggered the connection, an automatic or manual LinkedIn connection request.

Once you add an automatic LinkedIn Message step to a sequence, Reply checks if a LinkedIn account is connected to this sequence and if the prospect is already a connection. If the prospect that goes through the step is a connection of yours, there will be an attempt to send the message. If you are not connected to this prospect, this step will be skipped and the contact moved to the next step in the sequence.

LinkedIn automation schedule

Automatic LinkedIn messages and connection requests are sent to prospects according to the schedule assigned to the sequence. You can assign and customize a schedule on the sequence Steps tab.
