Zapier step

Automate your workflows by connecting Reply sequences with Zapier

Written by Dasha Leshchenko

You can use a Zapier step in your sequence to connect Reply with 7,000+ apps available on Zapier. When a contact reaches this step, it triggers an action in Zapier, allowing you to automate tasks outside of Reply.

When adding a Zapier step to your Reply sequence, you can choose how the sequence should continue:

  • Move to the next step immediately – the contact continues in the sequence right after the Zapier step is triggered

  • Wait for action from Zapier to move to the next step – the contact pauses at this step until Zapier sends a signal to continue

How to add a Zapier step in Reply?

  1. Go to the Steps tab in your sequence or create a new sequence.

  2. Click the + (Add step) button.

  3. Select the Zapier step.

  4. Choose how the step should behave (move immediately or wait for Zapier action).

  5. Click Save.

💡 You can add only one Zapier step per sequence.

How to set up your Zap in Zapier?

After adding the step in Reply, you also need to configure it in your Zapier account.

Option 1: Move to the next step immediately

Use this option if you want the sequence to continue without waiting.

  1. Open Zapier and click + Create → Zaps.

  2. Select Reply as the app.

  3. Choose Zapier Step Launched as the trigger event.

  4. Add a Filter step to specify which sequence the trigger belongs to.

  5. Copy the sequence ID from your browser URL in Reply.

  6. Paste it into the filter in Zapier.

  7. Choose the app you want to connect (e.g., a CRM) and the action event.

  8. Map the fields from Reply to the connected app

  9. Test the Zap and publish it once you're ready.

Option 2: Wait for action from Zapier to move to the next step

Use this option if you want to control when the contact moves forward in the sequence.

In this case, you'll need to set up two Zaps:

  1. Trigger Zap (send data to another app) – this is the same as in Option 1, where you set up a Zap with Zapier Step Launched to send data to another app.

  2. Action Zap (move to the next step in the sequence)

    • Create a new Zap and select Reply as the app.

    • Choose Move to the Next Step as the action.

    • Select the sequence you want the contact to move through and map the contact email to the Reply Contact Email field.

    • Test the Zap and publish it.

Once both Zaps are active, your Zapier step will trigger actions in external apps and control how contacts move through your sequence.
