The default email account is used as the default sending email address for sequences in your Reply account. You can connect multiple email accounts to Reply, but one should always be marked as the default one.

However, it is possible to change or remove the default email account. This is useful if a particular email account is underperforming, not used for outreach, or if you don't want to be charged for it. In any of these cases, you can easily switch the default email account to a new one or remove it altogether.

Change a default email account

If you don't want to delete the previously connected default email account, you can replace it with another one. Here's how:

  1. Open Settings from the header menu.

  2. Navigate to the Email Accounts tab.

  3. If the new email account is not listed, connect a new email account.

  4. Click on the three dots in the grid next to the desired email account, and then select "Make default". This will designate the selected account as the default email account for sequences in Reply.

That's it. The previously connected default email account will be saved in the list of your email accounts but will no longer be a default one.

Remove an email account

You can easily remove both the default email account and any other connected accounts from Reply. Here's how:

  1. Open the Settings page from the header menu, then navigate to the Email Accounts.

  2. Click on the three dots in the grid next to the email account that you wish to remove, and select "Remove".

  3. A pop-up will appear to confirm your decision to delete the email account. Click "Remove" to proceed with the deletion.

Please note:

  • If you have one sending email account and substitute it with another, the newly added default email account will be automatically assigned to all your sequences and contacts.

  • If you have multiple email accounts connected and you delete the default one, the first email account in the list will automatically become the new default sender.

  • If you remove an email account but do not substitute it with another one, all your active sequences with manual and automated email steps will be stopped. The sequence toggle will be highlighted in red with a notification when you hover over it, suggesting you connect a sending email address to continue running your sequences. The system will keep running those sequences that don’t have email steps in them.
