A 2FA shared secret key helps Reply automatically reconnect your LinkedIn account if it gets disconnected, without requiring any action from your side. Reply will try to reconnect your account whenever possible, but please note that automatic reconnection is not guaranteed in every case.
This feature is currently in alpha and is available to a limited number of users.
Generate a 2FA shared secret key
If two-factor authentication (2FA) is already enabled on your LinkedIn account, you'll need to disable it and enable it again to generate a new shared secret key.
To generate a shared secret key:
In LinkedIn, go to Settings & Privacy → Sign in & Security → Two-factor authentication.
Set up 2FA and enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email.
Choose Authenticator app as your authentication method.
Copy the shared secret key displayed by LinkedIn.
Complete the setup by:
entering the verification code from your authenticator app, or
using a TOTP generator website. Paste the shared secret key into the generator to generate a 6-digit code, then enter the code in LinkedIn to finish enabling 2FA.
Your shared secret key is now ready to use in Reply.
Connect your LinkedIn account using a shared secret key
If you're connecting a new LinkedIn account, follow the steps below.
If your LinkedIn account is already connected to Reply, simply reconnect it and enter your 2FA shared secret key when prompted.
In Reply, go to Settings → LinkedIn accounts.
Click New LinkedIn account.
Select Add with credentials or Add with invite link.
💡Note: The session cookie connection method doesn't support shared secret keys.
Enter your LinkedIn credentials.
Paste the shared secret key into the 2FA shared secret field.
Complete any additional verification as prompted.
Once the account is connected, Reply will use the shared secret key to automatically reconnect your LinkedIn account whenever possible.
