Common LinkedIn sequence errors

Learn how to understand and fix issues with LinkedIn sequences

Written by Tania

LinkedIn sequences may stop for several reasons, such as issues with your LinkedIn account, missing contact information, LinkedIn limits, or sequence settings.

In this article, we'll walk you through the most common issues and show you how to fix them, so your LinkedIn sequences can get back up and running quickly.

LinkedIn account is disconnected

If you see this error in the tooltip when hovering over the sequence toggle, it means your LinkedIn session cookie has expired, and the account needs to be reconnected.

You can check the status of your LinkedIn account on the LinkedIn accounts page or in sequence settings. If a Sales Navigator account is disconnected, the LinkedIn account owner also receives an email notification.

How to fix

Reconnect your LinkedIn account on the LinkedIn accounts page in your account settings.

👉 See this article for detailed instructions on reconnecting your account.

Contacts are missing data

If some contacts in your sequence don't have valid LinkedIn profile links, you might see the following error: Some of your contacts will not be processed as they have missing data.

To check, apply the LinkedIn URL is not set filter in the People tab. The contacts that appear are the ones missing a LinkedIn link.

If a LinkedIn link is present but the contact still shows a missing data status, open the link and make sure:

  • The profile exists and hasn't been deleted

  • It's a personal LinkedIn profile (not a company page)

How to fix

  • Reimport the contacts and map the LinkedIn profile link field during import

  • Or, update the LinkedIn field manually for each contact in their contact card.

Once the LinkedIn links are valid, the missing data status will be removed.

LinkedIn action limits

Your LinkedIn sequence may pause if your daily limits have been reached. This includes limits set in Reply, as well as limits imposed by LinkedIn itself (for example, the weekly limit for connection requests).

To check your account limits in Reply:

  1. Go to the LinkedIn accounts page and click on your LinkedIn account to see your limits.

  2. Go to Reports → LinkedIn to compare your limit with the number of actions performed today.

💡 Note: LinkedIn limits are reset according to the UTC time zone.

How to fix

You can adjust your limits if needed, but avoid increasing them too much. We recommend following best practices to reduce potential risks.

If a limit is reached, your sequence will automatically attempt new LinkedIn steps the next day.

Free LinkedIn accounts can send only 3 personalized connection requests (with a note) per month.

If your sequence includes a connection request with a note and you're using a free account, you have two options:

  • Remove the note to send connection requests without text.

  • Upgrade your LinkedIn plan to increase your limits.

💡 Note: If your LinkedIn subscription wasn't detected correctly, reconnect your LinkedIn account.

Contacts are not assigned to a LinkedIn account

If a LinkedIn account was deleted or removed from a sequence, contacts assigned to it become unassigned.

How to fix

  1. Go to the People tab in your sequence and apply the LinkedIn account is not set filter to locate unassigned contacts.

  2. Select the contacts.

  3. Click Change sending LinkedIn account.

  4. Choose the LinkedIn account you want to assign.

  5. Click Apply.

Your contacts will now be assigned to the selected LinkedIn account, and the sequence can continue sending steps.

You can also enable the Reassign LinkedIn accounts toggle in Settings → Emails → Sequence LinkedIn accounts:

When this option is enabled, if a LinkedIn account is removed, its contacts will be automatically reassigned to another available LinkedIn account.

LinkedIn account not added to the sequence

If a LinkedIn account hasn't been added to your sequence, the sequence won't be able to process LinkedIn steps.

How to fix

  1. Go to Sequence settings → Add LinkedIn account.

  2. Select the LinkedIn account you want to use.

Missing AI voice profile

If your sequence includes an AI voice message step and no voice profile is linked, the sequence may show an error.

How to fix

  • Go to the Voices tab and create a voice profile.

  • Link the voice profile to your LinkedIn account.
