With the Clay integration, you can sync contacts from Clay tables to Reply.io and add them directly to sequences. In this article, we'll show you how to set up the integration, run both actions in Clay, and what information you'll need.
Set up the Clay integration
To connect Clay with Reply.io, follow these steps:
Copy your Reply API Key from Settings → API Key.
In Clay, open Settings → Connections and paste the API key.
Save!
Clay supports two actions – Create contact and Push contact to campaign. Let's take a closer look at each one below.
Create contact
This action adds a new contact in Reply.io. If a contact with the same email already exists, their information is updated with the latest details.
Required fields:
Email address
First name
Optional fields:
Last name
Other contact details (city, state, LinkedIn URL, etc.)
Custom fields.
💡 Note: Only custom fields that already exist in your Reply.io account can be updated. To create a new custom field, see this article.
Push contact to campaign
This action adds an existing contact to a sequence in Reply.io. Contacts can only be added if they aren't already active in another sequence.
Clay can only add contacts to existing sequences. Make sure you have at least one sequence in Reply before pushing contacts. For more details, see our article on setting up a sequence.
Required fields:
Campaign ID
Select the sequence you want to add the contact to. If the list is empty, refresh the fields.
Email address
Select the column that contains the contact's email.
Optional fields:
Depending on your sequence, you may see extra fields for tags, attributes, or other contact details.
Running actions in Clay
In order to create a contact or push them to your sequence, follow these steps:
Open or create a Clay table.
Add a new column and choose Add enrichment.
Search for Reply.io and select Create Contact or Push contact to campaign.
Map the required fields and any optional fields you want to sync.
Save the settings and click Run column.
And that's it! Your contacts are now synced to Reply.io and added to sequences.
